1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Splitly, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must stop using the service immediately.

These Terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and anyone who accesses or uses the service.

2. Description of Service

Splitly is a free online bill-splitting tool that helps individuals and groups track shared expenses, calculate how much each person owes, and settle up with the minimum number of transfers. The service is available as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and can be used directly in any modern browser without installation.

Key features include:

  • Equal, proportional, exact, and percentage-based splits for flexible expense tracking
  • Guest mode: all data is stored locally on your device with no account required
  • Cloud sync: optional sign-in with Google to sync data across devices
  • Real-time collaboration: share a link so multiple people can edit the same bill simultaneously
  • Offline support: the app works even without an internet connection

3. Free and Premium Plans

Splitly offers both a free plan and a paid premium plan.

  • Free Plan: Includes core features with a limit of up to 3 active bill groups. Advertisements may be displayed.
  • Premium Plan: Includes unlimited bill groups, no advertisements, CSV batch import, full data export, and priority support. Pricing is displayed at the time of purchase.

Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis. You may cancel at any time. After cancellation, you retain access to premium features until the end of your current billing period. Your data and bill groups are never deleted due to downgrading.

4. Use of the Tools

  • Personal use: The service is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You may not use Splitly for any unlawful purpose or in a way that violates these Terms.
  • Calculation disclaimer: All split calculations and settlement suggestions are provided for convenience only. They are estimates and may involve rounding. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all figures before making any payment.
  • No financial advice: Splitly is not a financial service or advisor. The results produced by the tool do not constitute financial, legal, or accounting advice.
  • Availability: We strive to maintain a reliable service, but we may update, modify, or temporarily suspend the service at any time for maintenance or improvements.

5. User Accounts and Responsibilities

  • Guest mode: If you use Splitly without signing in, your data is stored only in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser cache or using private browsing mode may result in data loss. We are not responsible for data lost due to browser storage limitations.
  • Registered accounts: If you choose to sign in with Google, your data is stored securely in Google Firebase. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • Accuracy of data: You are solely responsible for the accuracy of all data you enter. Splitly is not liable for any disputes or losses arising from incorrect input.
  • Prohibited conduct: You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service, nor use automated tools to access it without our prior written consent.

6. Third-Party Services

Splitly uses the following third-party services to provide and improve the experience:

  • Google Firebase: Used for user authentication and cloud data storage for signed-in users.
  • Google Analytics (GA4): Used to understand how users interact with the service in aggregate. Data is anonymized where possible.
  • Google AdSense: Used to display advertisements to users on the free plan. Google may use cookies to serve personalized ads.
  • Microsoft Clarity: Used for session analytics (heatmaps and session recordings) to improve usability.

By using Splitly, you acknowledge that these third-party services may collect and process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

7. Intellectual Property

The Splitly name, logo, website content, and underlying software are owned by Paji Splitly or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the service without our prior written permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Splitly and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data resulting from browser cache clearing or account issues
  • Financial disputes arising from calculation results used as the basis for payment
  • Service interruptions or temporary unavailability

Your use of the service is at your own risk. The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

We make no warranties or representations, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of the service or its results. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the service or applicable law. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. Your continued use of the service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in good faith between the parties.
